“We should be focused on providing high-end jobs to our youth in areas like AI, electronics, and software. The foreign direct policy of Uttar Pradesh allows us to partner with big investors,” Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Advisor to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.
Awasthi further said that the government expects the private sector to set up their bases in the state, and provide employment opportunities to the youth.
“India is the most youthful country and if we talk about UP’s youth, 6.5 lakh government jobs have been offered but they are not sufficient. Through investments, jobs are being provided in the industrial sector.”
The top official said that AI can be used in areas such as healthcare and education, and India should partner with the United States to further develop AI capabilities.
“AI has also an aspect of security, where we have to learn from other countries on how to make safe AI.”
Yogi Adityanath-headed state government has lately attracted an investment of nearly Rs 12-lakh crores which according to the top official would enable a “lot of jobs” in the state.
Early this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugrated Semicon India 2024 at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh with multiple companies showcasing their products and capabilities.
Country electronics sector currently stands at $150 billion, while the Centre expects it to reach to $500 billion, creating as many as 60 lakh jobs by the end of 2030.
India already has a proven track-record in software export business.
In the 2022-2023, India’s IT software and services export has grown to $193 billion, from $172 billion in 2021-2022, according to an industry finding.
Awasthi also said that there have been several startups considering setting up their offices in Uttar Pradesh.
“There are a large number of startups that are coming forth,” he said, adding that the areas of partnerships including requirements such as training could be worked out by the state authorities.
The target that we have in front of us is to become the third largest economy in the world, he said, adding that Uttar Pradesh would play a key role in achieving the national ambition.
Earlier this year, the Finance Ministry said that India is expected to become the third-largest economy worldwide with a GDP of $5 trillion in the next three years and touch $7 trillion by 2030.
Currently’ country’s economy is ranked as the fifth-largest with an estimated GDP of $3.7 trillion.
